Reviewer Recognition: JBA acknowledges that peer review is a voluntary service that is essential to the academic community. We are committed to recognizing our reviewers through annual acknowledgements, reviewer certificates upon request, and inclusion in public recognition lists (with consent).

B. REVIEWER GUIDELINES AND EXPECTATIONS

Peer reviewers at JBA are expected to adhere to the following guidelines, which are aligned with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) standards:

Confidentiality

Manuscripts are confidential documents. Reviewers must not discuss them with anyone without editor permission or use information from unpublished manuscripts for personal advantage.

Objectivity

Reviews should be objective, constructive, and supported by clear evidence. Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate. Reviewers should express views clearly with supporting arguments.

Timeliness

Reviewers should complete reviews within the agreed timeframe (typically 2-4 weeks). If unable to meet deadlines, they should notify the editor immediately.

Conflict of Interest

Reviewers should decline invitations if they have conflicts of interest (collaborative, competitive, personal relationships with authors) and notify the editor.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work not cited and alert editors to any substantial similarity or overlap with other published works.

Constructive Feedback

Reviews should provide specific, actionable recommendations to help authors improve their work, regardless of the final decision.

Review Timeline: Reviewers are typically given 2-4 weeks to complete their review. The journal appreciates timely responses to ensure efficient publication processes.
